The Sustainability Hospital Workers (SHoW) Task Force is a group of Colorado healthcare professionals dedicated to minimizing the environmental impact of the health services provided to our communities.
SHoW strives to implement projects within the health sector that:
- Reduce unnecessary waste and pollution from hospital and clinic operations.
- Advocate for public health solutions prioritizing environmental justice.
- Use data to drive climate-smart action.

Founding Members:
Dr. Diane Gordon
Dr. Diane Gordon is a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Children's Hospital Colorado and an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado. She is involved with Anesthesia Sustainability efforts at the international, national and local levels and is Chair of the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia's Special Interest Group for Sustainability. She is in constant pursuit of ways to decrease the environmental impact of anesthesia, increase awareness of individual practitioner responsibility and motivate colleagues to take a leadership role in this arena in their home institutions.
Dr. Nikita Habermehl
Dr. Nikita Habermehl is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Children's Hospital Colorado. In addition to providing the best pediatric emergency care as possible, she is passionate about how the climate impacts human health, specifically pediatric health. She takes a holistic approach when providing care, and believes in helping patients better understand their own health. She advocates for her patients and communities serves as a board member of Healthy Air & Water Colorado. She not only advocates for her patients, but also teaches future physicians at the medical school and pediatric residents about how climate change can impact their patients' health. One of her goals is to help make health care delivery more sustainable and reduce waste from our local hospitals & clinics.
Dr. Caitlin Rublee
Dr. Caitlin Rublee is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Colorado School of Public Health. She serves as Vice Chair of The Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health and was the 2022-2024 American Board of Emergency Medicine National Academy of Medicine Fellow. She is a Term Member with the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Rublee completed a Climate and Health Science Policy Fellowship and continues to advance population health through research, education, and policy. Her main interests are in community-led solutions for disaster preparedness and communicating climate solutions as health and equity solutions for her patients, colleagues, and global community.
